Pretty In Pink

This renovation achieves a lot in a smaller space. The homeowners wanted an elegant, spa-like ensuite with sculptural lighting that mirrors other fixtures featured in the rest of the (renovated) house. A stunning textural focal wall was placed behind dual mirrors and a floating vanity with undermount lighting. Gracefully linear floor tile was selected to guide the eye to this feature wall, connecting the master to this stunning new space. The original bathroom had a platform tub crowding the window and a support pillar bifurcating the room. We installed a structural beam to allow the opening-up of this space and ripped out the platform, bringing everything down to a single level. The new pedestal tub rests below the existing but newly-enormous-looking window, and bathers can soak in perfect privacy at this height, with a view of the prairie sky. The compact walk-in shower was designed with four kinds of water jets, steam, and even an insightful foot ledge for shaving. The water closet has a delicate filigreed tile feature echoed in the shower, flanked by a cement treatment full of movement to enliven the small space. We also captured void space in the hallway for a lovely new linen closet.
